GM Yudasin visits the Official University Of Memphis Chess Club


GM Yudasin spent personal time visiting with students this afternoon at the Official University Of Memphis Chess Club. If you were not there, you truly missed the amazing talents of the Grandmaster at work. After his arrival here in Memphis today, he was very gracious and spent enjoyable time with the students.

There is to be an one on one simul event later this
weekend with GM Yudasin.


GM YUDASIN is one of the Top Chess Players in the World and a Russian Champion . . . the list below includes "just a few" of his many achievements:
Born August 8, 1959, in Leningrad, GM Yudasin now lives in New York
Awarded title of International Master in 1982
Awarded title of International Grandmaster in 1984
Co-winner of the 1990 USSR Championship
World Champion Candidate in 1991 and 1994
Two time Israeli Chess Champion during his residency there
Recent winner of several chess tournaments all over the USA
Peak USCF rating is 2735

SIMULTANEOUS CHESS EXHIBITION

GM Yudasin will host a chess "Simultaneous Exhibition" where he will play all challengers at the same time. This is a fantastic and fun event for chess players of all ages. From 1:30 - 2:00 p.m., meet and talk chess with the Grandmaster! Bring your camera for photos and your chess boards and/or books for him to autograph! Then at 2:00 p.m., join him for the Simul, which is expected to last until around 4:00 p.m. On-site registration for this event will be from 1:00-1:45 p.m. that day. The Entry Fee to play is $20 ($5 less for JCC members).

"OPEN" (USCF-Rated) TOURNAMENT 4SS, G/60

USCF Rated Sections: "OPEN" and "U1600/Unr."

(current USCF membership required for both sections)

Fifty percent of the entry fees will be returned as prizes, and prizes will be given to the first and second overall in the OPEN Section and to the first and second overall in the U1600 Section. USCF membership may be purchased on site.

Round Times: First round at 9 a.m.; other rounds to follow ASAP.

On-Site Registration: 8:15am - 8:45am

Entry Fee for All in OPEN and U1600 Rated Sections: $20 prior to the day of the tournament; $25 at site ($5 less for JCC members).

5SS, G/30 - (Rated & Unrated Sections)

Players will compete for trophies and medals in 4 Sections

USCF Rated Sections: "K-3" - "K-6" - "K-12"
(current USCF membership required for these sections)

Non-Rated Section: "K-12 Unrated"
(no membership required for this section)

Five rounds will be played with a time control of G/30 (each opponent will have 30 minutes to complete his game). USCF membership may be purchased on site for the rated sections. Trophies awarded to the top three winners in each section. All non-trophy winners will receive a commemorative chess medal.

Round Times: Round one at 10am; other rounds to follow ASAP.

On-Site Registration: 9:15am - 9:45am

Entry Fee: $15 prior to the day of the tournament; $20 at site ($5 less for JCC members).
