US Amateur South 2011 - UPSETS!

US Amateur South 2011: CHAMPIONSHIP
Upsets are always big parts of Amateur tournaments (part of the theme this year, "Every Pawn has the Right to Dream"), and those typically are noted for any that are greater than 300 ratings point difference. Already, we've had a whopping 8-the largest being just under 700 points!

US Amateur South 2011 Chess Tournament

Hello everyone!

Just have some news from the

US AMATEUR SOUTH 2011 Chess Tournament

held this year in Memphis TN, at the University of Memphis.

First rounds have finished and moving on to round 2. Some interesting facts so far: entries include 4 expert level players along with 6 class A level players. There are close to 60 players this year and 10 states or so represented. Very good for a first time played in Memphis Tennessee.

Good luck to all the players!

Update: round 3 finished, will possibly have some major round upsets and 3rd round standing to post later tonight.

Wow!

Folks you missed the most aggressive tournament in

Memphis in a very very very long time!
Sorry you weren't here to enjoy the play.
