Open Section: Two sections: Open and Under 1600. 4/SS Game in 60; USCF Rated, Membership Required. 60% of entry fees returned as prizes. Open: First and second overall, top U1800. Under 1600: First and second overall; top U1400.
Scholastic Rated: K-3, K-6, K-12 (sections may be combined if necessary); Unrated: K-6.
Sections: 5/SS, Game in 30 minutes. Medals to top 3 overall in each section; ribbons to all.
Registration: Check in and on-site registration from 8:00-8:45. After 8:45 a.m. a ½ point bye will be awarded for the first round.
Entry Fee: $8 scholastic if mailed by Oct. 24; $10 onsite. $15 open if mailed by Oct. 24; $20 onsite
Rounds: Open - Rounds: 9 a.m., 11:15, a.m. 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
Scholastic - Round 1: 9 a.m. Rounds 2-5 as soon as possible
Grand Slam Top 3 winners of each section in the Grand Slam Series will receive prizes.
Series: Individuals who play in all four Gland Slam tournaments will receive a special participant prize. All Grand Slam prizes will be presented at the Shelby County Chess Championship in the spring.
Top 2 finishers in each section in each Grand Slam Tournament qualify for the 2010 Shelby County Chess (SCC) Closed. See shelbycountychess.org for more details.
